2009-04-28:
Distance today: 32.0 km (Accumulated: 12907.8 km)
Elapsed time: 03:17:51
Country: Africa

Start 09:15am., at Hoteela Jaarso in Gebre Guracha on the main rd. to Addis Abeba. 18c, half cloudy and l. wind. Finish 16:31pm., at blue sign: "Goodina Shawaa Kaabaa Waajjir Eegumsa Fayaa Aanaa Dagamitti Bufata Fayyaa, Hambiso", at South exit of Deggam village, ca. 2km afterkm-marker 125 on the main rd. to Addis Abeba. 21c and same.

3100m :-)

Another not terribly long stage while the legs are recovering from the steep Blue Nile gorge run a few days back (recovery takes longer at altitude - atleast for a tired runner ;-)

After 16km w. solid amounts of climbing' the breath began to be drawn a bit short and out of curiocity I took a look at the gps (it cant transmit live via LifePilot untill we reach Kenya and gprs network).
It showed 3050m. Wich later rose to a max. of 3126m. A fair reason for a short breath even at a slow running pace, I guess ;-)

Btw. I heard another Good ethiopian bonmot' / way of speaking. This time offered by a student who, curious about the run, followed on bicycle for 10km.
Tallam Faisha:
"If youhave your body - you are Not poor, you can work and make everything you want".

- If this became the general concept in Ethiopia, what a place it could become :-)

(I know its not v. polite to say. And certainly this contry has had more than its share of challenges. But, the common mentality of "GIVE ME... !!" is not likely to bring progress. I'd guess education, creativity and persistance would; as for example that of Tallam :-).
