Tanzania - "Pole Poole" :-)

"Pole Poole": Slowly Sloowly !!
This was the words I was greeted with as I ran through the borderpost in Tanzania after jogging alongside my supportcar through the 5km 'no mans land' (Beautifull terrain by the way !) between the Kenyan and the Tanzanian borderposts, passport in hand' while the sun went down over the banana-fields in a purple glow.

The smiling locals immideately gathered around my supportdriver Tommy (who is doing a Great Job here in E. Africa!!) and I - talking in swahili language & shaking hands w. us non stop :-)

They had seen me running from out in the horizon, the remote Tanz. border beeing situated on a hilltop, and gave me the "Pole Poolè" and.. when I explained about the run commented: "Slowly but SURELY !". Could not have imagined a better or more fitting (running months behind scedule now ;-) Greeting :-))

I did 47km - the longeststage since I got the malaria.

Somehow I can allmost not wait to start on running into this apparently poor (no water etc. in Horrorhorro city) but overwhelming Friendly and Smiling culture !
Like a kid waiting to open a christmas present ! :-))
