[travel-day 1. towards Cuba: Maicabo to Valledupar]

Getting up was surprisingly easier than I had suspected, after the expected 85km run became a very warm dusty 92km run yesterday. And a lot of packing was to be done before my support-driver Alexander from Colombia and I could proceed by car to Valledupar where my airplane departes to Bogota and eventually Cuba via El Salvador.

But before that we had a 5hours drive on a very bumpy road/off-road ;-)

Interesting is, that when driving the same roads wich I have run - the impression is completely different !

- When driving or more precisely sitting in the passenger seat trying to streatch my legs to prevent cramps (I am Very unused to sitting down for longer times by now), I was surprised by how small and how "anonomyous" the terrain and villages on the way seemed. During the run, you get to see every little detail, small things unique to that particular streatch of road, that village, or that corner of the street, etc... From the car it all looked more or less the same as it passed by the window.

Amazing how different those two ways of transportation; running and driving, influence your experience of your enviroment and 'close-by' world. Another reason why I love to do these world run's :-)

- You get to experience the world as if it was your back-garden. And not just a film speeding by your eyes.
